eBird Weekend: May 8th-May 10th
eBird is a free, online platform for community scientists to record and share bird observations, creating a global database used by researchers and conservationists to study bird populations and migration patterns. Birdwatchers submit checklists of the birds they see or hear in a location, contributing to data that helps inform scientific understanding and conservation efforts worldwide. The platform also allows users to explore bird data, discover hotspots, and even set up alerts for rare species!
May 8th-May 10th will be FULL of guided bird walks and bird related activities at a handful of green spaces within DFW. Emphasis will be on migration, how neotropical migrants connect the world through their habitat dependance, and inviting all to become community scientists by using eBird during guided bird walks and activities!
